Mika Lalaouni and Michalis Kosmopoulos, partners at Drakopoulos, participated as keynote speakers at the Global Sustain Club’s Roundtable on Corporate Governance, held on March 11, 2024. The discussion, moderated by Michael Spanos, Managing Director of Global Sustain, began with a brief introduction to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) to highlight the growing significance of non-financial reporting and the role of corporate governance in the evolving landscape.

Mika and Michalis emphasized the growing importance of integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into all business and investment decisions. In particular, they highlighted the critical role of “G” (Governance), which spans multiple management spheres, encompassing action plans, internal controls, performance measurement and corporate disclosure. They also outlined the dynamic nature of governance and the multiple benefits for businesses that adopt best practices in governance, risk management and supervisory mechanisms.

Given the increased importance of ESG factors for both public and private companies, these elements are now an integral part of strategic business decision-making. Recognizing the significance of ESG, Drakopoulos provides practical advice across a comprehensive range of legal services, contributing to the ongoing development of a sustainable business ecosystem.
