Drakopoulos Of Counsel, Ioannis Giannakakis, was the keynote speaker at the “Beyond Compliance: Turning NIS 2 into a strategic advantage” webinar, organized by the Association of Chief Executive Officers (EASE) on 15 April 2025.
The webinar attracted a broad audience of business leaders, all keen to understand the implications of the NIS 2 Directive and its impact on corporate governance and cybersecurity.
In his presentation, Ioannis provided a thorough overview of the Directive, emphasizing its strategic relevance for CEOs and executive teams. He offered practical guidance on how executives can enhance organisational resilience, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement proactive measures to effectively manage cybersecurity risks effectively.
The NIS 2 Directive sets out a framework of cybersecurity measures focused on risk management, requiring organisations to conduct ongoing risk assessments, implement both technical and organisational measures – such as access controls and firewalls – and establish protocols for identifying, reporting and handling security incidents.
The importance of cybersecurity is clear, impacting organizations of all sizes and sectors, as cyber attacks pose severe risks to personal data and the smooth operation of businesses.
As of May 2025, the official digital platform for NIS2 registration in Greece is fully operational. Entities falling within the scope of Law 5160/2024 must complete their registration through this platform. A Ministerial Decision issued on 14 February 2025 has extended the registration deadline for all obligated entities to 31 May 2025.
